String Length

I have a Fred Bear Super Kodiak and the AMO is at 60. I was told that when you get a string that it should be 4 inch shorter than the AMO length. Is this true?

RE: String Length

That is a good general place to start. I know not much help LOL. If it is a flemish twist string you can adjust it to what you need from there by twisting or umtwisting it as long as you don't have to untwist it to much. Where is LBR when ya need the string expert. I am sure he will chime in with better info.

Expert? Who told that lie? [8D]

Actually AMO (or whatever it's called now) states that the AMO string length is 3" shorter than the bow length, longbow or recurve. However, that doesn't always hold true--depends on whether the bow was made to AMO specs or not. I'd try to borrow a string to check and get close, or if you order one I'd go with a flemish string 56.5" long--you can adjust it 1/2" or more either way easily.
