Do you guys have any tips for finding a reliable anchor-point?

I've always heard "the corner of your mouth". I don't agree with that though. The reason is the corner of your mouth is very flexible, so it may not be consistent. Also, it may not line your arrow up directly under your eye--depending on the shape of your face (it does not for me).

I chose an anchor point that will not move--an upper tooth directly underneath my eye--this will naturally line you up left and right. A second or third anchor is not a bad idea--it will help with consistency. I have to give Sag credit for pointing that out--it has helped me. Notice where your hand is when you establish your primary anchor, and make sure you have it in the same position every time. Mine is my thumb against my face and my middle finger touching my face.

I use middle finger tip to the bicuspid tooth, and the back of my thumb knuckle to the jawbone.
