Anyone shoot four fletched
 

I was just wondering if anyone here shoots for fletched arrows on their setup. I have used them for a long time on my compound and have tried them on my Recurve (elevated rest). They seem to fly pretty good.

Just wondering what peoples reasoning for shooting three or four fletched arrows on their traditional bow.

I used them on my compound for a more stable arrow flight with fixed blade broadheads and have stayed with them.

I have used 4 fletch before. I didnt really notice in my arrow flight. I do like four fletch for the fact that I can just grab a arrow and nock it,dont have to pay attetion to the cock feathers..

I shoot three fletch for a couple of reasons: I like the way they look, and they're slightly faster to build.

I always use indexed nocks so it's easy to orient my arrows cock feather out without looking at them. In fact, the last three sets I built for myself have all three feathers the same color.

I have noticed that if I shoot an arrow with the cock feather in I don't get any difference in arrow flight. A couple weeks ago I was shooting a friends arrows to see how they flew in a bow and I wasn't paying attention to how I was putting them on the string. He had indexed nocks so I was going by that. It wasn't until I'd shot a couple dozen times that I noticed he puts his index to the inside and I'd been shooting everything cock feather in. I didn't see any bad arrow flight in all that.

I'm with Grey. I ran some tests, keeping score, and I found I shot just as well with the cock feather in as with the cock feather out. It's said that Fred Bear never worried about the position of his cock feather, especially on follow-up shots.

I use four 4" LW helicals for my hunting arrows. Four fletch is "overkill" for porperly tuned arrows with target points, but with broadheads I'll take every ounce of added stability I can get.

I use 4 4" on the ones I fletch. Started doing that for the ease of nocking and going. I, like the others, have not noticed any flight difference when I use 3 fletch with the cock feather in.

I defintely like 4" 4 fletch, especially a shield cut. Looks sharp and stabilizes in a jiffy.

I've been toying with the idea of trying some banana feathers,other than noise anyone tryed these?They look pretty neat and diff. bet they would be good for stabilizing broadheads-I'm gunna try snuffers. Cam <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Cam, I've been shooting them for a couple of years. They aren't the high profile nanners, instead being a special low profile burn. They were done for me by Don Brown and I shoot them from a longbow I got from him. I used to shoot them from my old widow curve. Here's a pic.

Mike-Those are real nice looking arrows,I don't see that low profile 'nanner'around here what do you think of the big ones?Think I'd be making too much of a feather statement by using them?I am somewhat worried about the big ones slowing my arrow up with those big snuffers on the end.
