The recovery distances are from memory, so they might not be exact.


Heart shot at about 5 yards. 70-yard recovery.



Both of these deer were shot broadside through the chest. The button buck was taken at 17 yards and went about 50 more before he expired. The doe was about 20 yards away when I shot her. She went down a few yards past the button buck. My 6-year-old daughter bloodtrailed them for me.



This guy tried to sneak a bunch of venison and two cool little velvet-covered antlers past me last September. He tried to jump the string at 10 yards and wasn't fast enough. The resulting spine shot put him down immediately, and a follow-up arrow finished the job.



This one was taken quartering away at nine yards. I won't spoil the story.

So, go the stories of the inefficiency of slower shooting and antiquated bows that are so simplistic in design and setup, they (stick bows) are only suitable for shooting hedge-apples and stumps.

Not long ago, there was a thread somewhere about hunting hats. And of course, I immediately thought about that picture. But it somehow disappeared.
