Recurves - Draw Weight - Energy
I'm looking at purchasing a recurve thats 61"long, 44# draw weight at 30" draw. Will this setup produce enough energy to kill a whitetail deer at 20yards?
Thank you! TxBowman |
RE: Recurves - Draw Weight - Energy
At 30" draw, definitely. Of course, that's assuming good shot placement, reasonable arrow weight and sharp 2-blade broadheads 1 1/8" wide or less. Texas regs say 40 pounds minimum draw weight, so you're fine on the legal end.

RE: Recurves - Draw Weight - Energy
TxBowman, is your drawlength 30 inches? At a 28 inch draw that bow is going to be substantially lighter, 5 or 6 pounds lighter. Where i am, that would make the bow illegal to hunt with. The regulations here say 40 pounds at the archers drawlength.
