If you did it over Deflex/Reflex or Straight

What is your preference for Deflex/Reflex or straight limbs on your longbow?

Hmmm, good question. I own both, well kinda do. My 54# Chek-Mate is an r/d bow and I really like the way it shoots. My 47# Don Brown Bamboo with Osage belly LB isn't a glass bow and there is some minimal string follow designed into it but it is as close as I can get to a straight limbed bow and I really like the way it shoots, lol. I guess if I had to get right down to it and make a choice as to which one I prefer, it'd be the r/d bow. Less shock to the elbow and hand on my bow arm. I don't see any difference in accuracy and speed is right up there on both with properly spined arrows weighing 10g per # of draw.

Personally, I'll take R/D over straight any day of the week. It's closer to a recrve, which is a REAL bow. :)

Deflex/reflex. More speed (flatter trajectory, better penetration), less shock, and still very quiet if properly tuned. I have shot some straight limbed bows that were a pleasant suprise, and the straight limbed bows will usually be quieter (naked string), but most have a good bit of "thump" (which you feel in your hand and arm), and the design is slower.

I've only had one. It is D/R with a reversed handle. It is very smooth, quick and I don't know what handshock is, but I DO NOT feel anything in my hand or elbow when shooting this bow as I have seen described by some with their bows.

Hmmmm....looks like a recurve to me. No, just kidding Vic. That is a very nice &quot;longbow.&quot; <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
When I order my O.L. Adcock it will be a reflex/deflex.
