Cheap traditional substitutes.....
the wax ring seal for toilets cost 97 cents at wal-mart. best lube for sleeve take-downs and string wax. a year's supply.
duco cement - half the cost of bohning glue. that kind of stuff. Please Add Yours........ |
RE: Cheap traditional substitutes.....
Usually when somebody is getting a new toilet, they will let you have their old wax seal for free! <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>
I use the super glue gels from regular stores instead of Fletch tite instant glue. Lot cheaper, but still expensive. I will probably think of some more later |
RE: Cheap traditional substitutes.....
Boy you two guy's crack me up. You spend 500 bucks on a bow and wax it with toilet wax and try to save 50 cents on glue for your feathers. We got to start an auction or something so you guys don't start robbing archery shops to support your hobby or turn to gambling like Floxter hehehe.

RE: Cheap traditional substitutes.....
Oh! I did buy several bags of Martha Stewart tomatoe stakes to make some arrows with. Now thats cheap.

RE: Cheap traditional substitutes.....
Used toilet wax? Do they make an un-scented type? Maybe I could hunt next to the sewage treatment plant, natural scent cover! I think I'll stick with my bees wax! Dick

RE: Cheap traditional substitutes.....
I second Chessbum for MS tomato stakes for arrows. I use em mostly for stump shootin.
I second John for cheap glue. Gonna try the toilet wax. I go to the local grain and feed store and pick up some of the empty grain sacks and fill them with rags and plastic shrink wrap or plastic bags for targets. Cost about one gallon of gas for several targets. Side benefit is I get to pic up a few primary turkey and goose flight feathers. |
RE: Cheap traditional substitutes.....
Fly line backing for serving material from Wal Mart, just like a bad steak, cheap and tough.

RE: Cheap traditional substitutes.....
I'll have you know I only paid $320 for my Chek-mate. Next bow.....don't ask. It is stressing me already! O.L. offers too many options for my budget!

RE: Cheap traditional substitutes.....
Toxophiliac - Awe, I was just teasing ya'll. Look into ordering an Acadian Woods longbow and look at your options - full blown baby will cost you $1500 or so. You can get an Adcock longbow, tonkin cane limbs and excellent craftsmanship for what, $650 ?? Keep an eye out, there'll be one come up used eventually (if you can beat me to it :))

RE: Cheap traditional substitutes.....
No way....I am too picky to buy a used one. I have been e-mailing O.L. everyday about woods. I guess I have decided to go with Tonkin Cane Limbs, with a Zebra venneer. Maybe get a carbon Lam under the veneer (why not.....only $40 more). I am thinking bolovian Rosewood or Gaboon Ebony for the riser. The Ebony is gonna be a bit extra. I don't know, I like them BOWth. I really like Tulip wood for the limbs, but I am going to stick with the Zebra. Still don't have any money. That 27" draw on my compound scares everybody off.
