Texas Bowhunt

My son & I went on our 1st exotic/wild hog hunt at Sweetwater Creek Ranch. If any of you Up North Bowhunters(us, Illinois) ever get a chance-this is a great off season hunt for biggame & not real expensive. We hunted 8 days with my son taking a Sika 6 point the 2nd day & I shot a Big Red Deer the 5th day (European Elk). We then hunted wild hogs & saw lots. My son got 5 shots at these critters but we never brought one home. Had the chances thou. This is a great place for traditional bowhunting. Saw som Big Whitetails also but season was closed.

always thankful

RE: Texas Bowhunt

We are fortunate in our area (Austin, TX) to have a couple of WMA's to hunt hogs and squirrels on. There is no closed season on the pigs so they provide a good oportunity to practice getting close. We also have a drawing system on many of our public lands that will allow you to take unlimited exotics during special permit hunts for "Game Animals". I just realized that we in Texas had these public opportunities to hunt and I will be taking advantage next season. Those pigs are sneaky aren't they?

SNEAKY!!! We had 8 Boars (all 250-300 lbs.) come out of a dead fall when we were about 10 feet away. They held that tight & then it was quite a scramble. It was great.
I am aware of the WMA & draws but when you live 1000 miles away, the ranch day lease is best for us. thanks for info.

always thankful
