I have a winner
I finally made a dozen arrows for shooting with my 55# limbs. This is going to work great! My Hunter shoots 1916 arrows, 458gr. at 172 fps. The same bow with the 55# limbs shooting 556 gr. arrrows is producing 172fps. Both are a 5 arrow average. The way I have it figured, I can shoot the 45# limbs for 3-D and switch to the 55# limbs for hunting and have the same trajectory for both. No re-learning for hunting season. I like it! The cast should be the same. Dick

Wow Dick, sounds great! Don't ya love it when a plan comes together?

RE: I have a winner
Well actually DicK, they could be very different. Even though they start out at the same speed, the light arrow is going to lose that speed a little quicker. So as the distance increases, the difference does also. Sorry Dick

RE: I have a winner
That's very true in theory Tox (dang you're a sharp kid) but at hunting distances the differences should be very minimal at most. Sounds like a good plan to me, but would be cool to see how it works out...Dick, a few experiments maybe??

RE: I have a winner
Only one way to know for sure, and that's to shoot it. Dang...another reason to shoot! :)

RE: I have a winner
My hunting shots are 15-20 yards. No problem there but I WILL EXPERIMENT and report results. Dick

Too kewl Dick, be sure & post results, ok?

RE: I have a winner
Dick,
Yes, the lighter arrows will lose speed a little faster than the heavy ones. When you're shooting the 80 yard walk-up you'll notice it. At 30 yards it's like I tell guys about ACC's versus ACE's...you'll never shoot the difference. JRW Edited by - jrw on 02/11/2002 11:55:46 |
