Looking for a Bear Hunt

It has been about 10 years and I am starting to get the itch to go hunt Bears again with a bow. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has a guide that they think enough of to refer a friend to?

Thanks for any help that you can give.

I can think of one in Ontario. Go to www.goldeneaglecamp.com and check out what they have to offer. New owners as of last year, and they had a VERY good success rate. Gary and Kerrie will treat you right, and their hunts are very reasonable. Gary is opening up some new stands for this year in areas that they havent hunted in the past. If you give him a call, tell him Kip sent ya, he'll treat ya right. Tell him you want to hunt one of Kip and Brians new spots we found last year. :D:D

We guide black bears in spring, not to mention some fantastic pike fishing!

Plcae looks great but it is just a bit out of my price range ( 4 kids under 10:D:D:D:D). I would love to hunt bears in Alaska had a couple of buddies do it a few years back and they were able to spot and stalk down the rivers for them instead of hunting over baits. All but one took bears with one guy getting one big enough to get into the state record book. I want to say it was over 21 inches but I am not 100% on that.

If I have to wait a year or two more maybe I can get up there.

Thanks KB:)

If you want to hunt bears in Alberta I can pass you on to a guide that is a top notch person, good taxidermist and a good guide. I am not sure which outfit he guides for now but if you are interested email me and I will send you his phone number. In Alberta you are allowed 2 bears and there are alot of varying colour phases.;)

Good luck where ever you hunt

You didn't say where you wanted to go. I assume you mean black bear too.
I hunted a couple of times with Eldon Jandreau out of Portage ME. Good quality bears and lots of them. Alot of stand locations. This hunt is out of tree stands over baited sites. Prices are reasonable too.

Bronko,

Do you have a # or email for Eldron?

I have gone to Canada once but I am open to just about anywhere.

Thanks Kevin

Kevin,
I've hunted with Clay Harrison at Long Lake Adventures, in New Brunzwick, four times. He is a great guy with terrific guides. His telephone number is (506) 356-5151. Web site is http://www.longlakeadventures.com/. Last year I hunted with a few other traditional bow hunters. The largest bear I have shot at Long Lake was 354 pounds. E-mail me at; [email protected] if you would like more info. Best of luck where ever you end up. Rick

They are not the biggest in the world but there are an estimated 25,000+ bears in Oregon. There is more public land than you can imagine and a guide isn't really needed.

In 1994 the hippies outlawed bait and dog hunting for cougar and bears and the populations of both exploded. The south west part of the state has higher bear concentrations than anywhere in the country.

It would be strictly spot and stalk if you were interested.

I have a sabatical coming up next year.(3 months vacation) And I am looking to possibly do an out of state hunt. Maybe we could work out an exchange?
