RE: You ever made a bow ?

Bobby,

What kind of bow?

I am starting on some all wood bows and plan on going back from there. Trying to stay away from fiberglass as much as possible on the bows I build. Hopefully someday I can build one worthy of taking over as my main bow.

Your best bet is to get on the 3 rivers sight.

For a longbow I HIGHLY recommend the video crafting the laminated longbow by Mike and Mike. I know one of them personally, and recently was given one of there bows. Even I can make one following there directions and thats saying something.

There are other videos 3 creeks is selling. You can also get on the bingham site for materials, diagrms for forms, and also more video's. If it were me I'd get the longbow vid by Mike and MIke from 3 rivers and the bingham longbow video. Compare the two as they both have great info in them. Then start going at it.

Thanks Lilhunter. I'm not to sure what I want or how to make one that will come out to about 60#'s, I don't think I want a long bow but more of a recurve type bow. I am a carpenter by trade and have built everything under the sun and I think building a bow would be a joy. Thanks again, Bobby :)

Bobby,

Bingham sells just about everything ya need to get going on it.

Also you could look this book up:

"How to make Recurve bows and matched arrows" by Patrick Speilman.

Its definatly a great read. Also the books is actually more of a pamphlet and is to some considered a collectors piece. Finding them isnt all that hard and they are running 40-50 bucks in EXC shape.

Its one of the better books on the subject I've seen. There is a lot of good new stuff but this one is just too awesome. Being you're a carpenter I am sure you'll appreciate this one.

RE: You ever made a bow ?

Hello
I've built several bows. A couple of takedown recurves and two longbows. All the bows I've built were laminated wood and glass.
I'd search the net for any info and also bingham has a lot of useful info. Check this site out for some good info.

Good luck in you venture

dkbs, that is a great site, spent most the day on it as I put it on my favorites.
It is easy to get side tracked on there as I got into the local region topics, thanks for the turn on my friend, Bobby ;)
