So, how's that wood fence holding up?
 

In many of the pics I see posted here, there is a 6ft wooden fence directly behind the target. I can relate to that because I have the same setup myself.

Just curious...have you guys screwed up your fences as badly as I have? Heck, I have to move my McKenzie every month or so to keep my wife from noticing all the holes and splits in the fence.

Of course, it's only a matter of time before there's nothing left standing but the 4x4 posts, so she's bound to catch on sooner or later.

My fence fell apart anyway, so I stick a big piece of plywood behind the target. The basement wall is another story. I shot it up with a pellet gun a couple years ago, but my mom painted over that. There are a couple arrow holes/craters in the cement now. Another side has a wood was. That has about 6 holes and one field point stuck in it. My dad did ALL those (or so my mom thinks, he he he). My sister nailed a brand new HUGE bottle of scent soap. I duct taped that back up though. My garage wall/door on the outside used to be stained red from shooting cranberries out of my slingshot, but my mom painted that this summer. My mom has pretty much fix all my shooting oopses. I broke the top of the top of my neighbor's (across the street) fence boards climbing it. One of the daughters knows about that one, but the parents don't. And NO if that is what you are thinking......that wasn't why I was climbing it. I was only like 12 for God's sake. We were playing some stupid tag game or something. I shot my aunt's neighbors newly sided garage with my bow when I was about 8. I have broken lots of stuff

no fence here just a wall LOL! As for backstops outside....well heck there isnt one <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>!

When I first started shooting I was shooting in the garage in the winter time. Put one thru the wall into the kitchen. Fortunately it went into the back of a kitchen cabinet, so it's not noticeable. A 4x4 sheet of 3/4&quot; plywood was quickly installed as a backstop.

In my first year or two, I shot using the wood fence in the side of the backyard as a backstop. I started out using hay bales and it didn't take long to wear them out and put holes in the wood fence. So, I started shooting towards the back fence, which is chainlink.

After a few dozen arrows in the ditch and one or two hitting the neighbors garage behind the ditch, I put up a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Haven't had to go into the ditch since. Not even after switching to traditional! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Gee, it's such an honor to inspire BlueMoose to start this topic (good natured sarcasm intended). Yep, I just keep on puttin holes in it. I too use a large piece of plywood, as my place is rented, and I don't want to pay for a new fence. But I covered the plywood in black plastic. It really helps you see the lighter colored arrows fly.
