Arrow tuning help.

Hey guys,
I'm shooting a #40@28 bow. Draw length is 27. Arrows are gold tip traditional hunters 400 spine, 32 inches, and a 200 grain field point. 3 rivers spine chart and spine calculator say I'm pretty spot on but my bare shaft shooting shows I'm still too stiff. I'm not sure about going up in point weight again because my total weight is getting real high compared to the poundage I'm shooting. Am I doing it right by trying to tune a 400 spine arrow too a #40 bow? Should I just bite the bullet and get some 500s or even 600s?

Go with the 500's. Anything around the 35-45 lb. range the 500's work best for me. I shoot the same draw length too. I would cut the arrows to 30" also.

Probably have to go with a lighter spine. The bow's performance, your release, even the string can make a difference. If your arrow nocks snap on the string tight, you might try some different nocks or re-serve the string to fit them properly (light snap)--that can make a difference.

You're probably shooting about 37lbs....go with a .600 spine

I would have to agree with the 600 recommendation. The 500's could probably be made to work with a heavy enough point. But either way 400's are way too stiff.
