season ender for me
So 2013 hunting season drew to a close for me on Nov 29. It's been a good year so far as variety goes- my wife and I started with grizzly in April, black bear in May, mountain goats in August, mule deer in Sept and moose in October, rounding out with our (now) annual whitetail hunt in late November.
We usually spend a week to 10 days at our cabin in the south central BC and Hel has a tree that she sits and it has produced a consistent run of 130-140 class bucks for the past 4 years. These are public land. forest dwelling deer- nearest farm field is about 30 miles away. This year we went later and could only escape for 5 days (2 to travel and 3 to hunt). It was a tough go, rut was winding down and wolves could be heard not that far behind our stands. She sat 3 full days and didn't see a deer, I lucked out and this little guy happened by so I invited him home. So back to more mundane pursuits (like work :) ) unless I get out locally once more for blacktail. RC |
Great story! You are blessed to have all of those hunts in 1 year.,
There is nothing better than to see traditional gear on a good harvest. I shoot compound and longbow. It's always more sweet to see a trad bow laying over a kill. What a memory! |
Pretty awsome!!! Congrats

that is truly beautiful country up there.
lived north of Seattle in the 50s & used to drive across the border just to see that part of the country. no way it could still be the same now with all the people every where. |
