It works !

The drawback to the Gordon shafts were that the inserts were too small and hitting something solid would slam the insert up into the shaft. I footed mine with a 3 inch piece of 2413 shaft - epoxyed it and it fit tight to begin with. Then , I epoxyed the 2413 inserts in as well. First shot this afternoon was into a sweetgum tree, straight on and no damage to the shaft at all - and I shot it 30 more time or more this afternoon too with no efects at all. The extra FOC don't seem to matter either - they flew quite well.

I think they are fantastic stump shooting shafts (haven't broadhead tested them yet)and might be a great hunting shaft as well.

Have you weighed those Gordon Glass arrows? And I hate to pick nits, but I don't believe those are Graphlex shafts. I saw the e-bay auction (Dan Quillen?) where you are buying them says Graphlex, but I don't believe they are. Anyway, just curious what the completed weight was. You do love to tinker , don't you?

I bought 24 Gordon glass shafts from Arrows by Kelly at the Kalamazoo expo. The inserts fit ok, tiny bit of shaft sticking out on some. I epoxied the heck out of them so I hope they will be fine. If not them I will foot em.
Stealthy....did you leave the Graphlex insert inside the arrow, or take it out. I wouldn't have thought to use the 2413 insert, I was thinking of sliding the "foot" flush with the stock insert. Your way sound good though, can't beat the results.
My shafts (without insert of nock taper) full length weighed in at right around 400 gr. They are heavy, but seem to shoot well. They are the 9's (65-70#). They say "M.J. Log 9" on them and are beige in color. Had them mistaked for woodies 3 times now. I am gonna rit dye stain them then cap with spray paint and polycrylic over coat, red and white feathers. Should be cool. I got 12 with broadhead adapter inserts, so now I can shoot woodsmans in 125 gr. now. I am happy.

Stealthy, I gotta git up that way and come see you. Not gonna make it this weekend, too much on the platter. I'll be up Mayflower way before too long.

That sounds like a great fix. I have a few Graphlex arrows left over from my first bow adventure. Got an insert jammed up inside one but should be OK to cut off and still not be too short.

Broker - No, they aren't true Gordon Graphlemx shafts. They weight heavy, somewhere around 425 a piece, 30", bare shaft if I remember.

Toxophiliac - Nope, as luck would have it, since I used a 3" piece of 2413 shaft, I could cut the inserts off and be okay (I epoxyed mine in too) The 2413 insert - its like the same diameter of that shaft, and after I epoxy the insert into the 2413, I just slip it over the end of the Graphlex shaft with a bit more epoxy until the 2413 insert is fitting flush up againt the Graphlex shaft.

PowDuck - Got another bow for you to shoot besides my Adcock - the Horne Combo longbow came in a couple of days ago. Its a shooter, going to REALLY wear it in good this weekend when I go shed hunting in northern Arkansas ....
