arrow holder on bow

Hello
I just finished building a longbow, which I plan on using this fall. Since this is the first longbow I' ve ever hunted with I' m searching for some input on keeping the arrow on the shelf while sitting on stand.
I' ve read where hunters will insert a small screw (parallel to the arrow and
in the riser), then cut off the head. Then using rubber bands from the screw around the arrow and back to the screw. Is there other methods you fellows prefer.
Thanks in advance for any help
Dan

RE: arrow holder on bow

There' s a much better gizmo to use and you don' t have to mess up your bow by putting holes in it. The Kwik-lock arrow holder. It' s got a selfadhesive pad that sticks to the riser. You clip the arrow into it and it pops loose as you start to draw. I used to use one long ago, but kinda grew away from it over the years. It works perfectly well though. You can get them on the ' net from 3 Rivers.
