fletching hunting colors
What fletching colors do you use for hunting?
I use 3, 5" feathers on each arrow. All 3 feathers are solid white in color. White color is easily seen at the first light of day approaches and it's easily seen at the last light of day toward evening.
Very visible, especially with the Flo Green nocks.... I will always use these nocks!
Chartruese or bright yellow are my favorites--usually with the same color nocks, and fur or feather tracers. Pink also shows up good.
Chad |
3 4" white feathers with white wrap and nock
I use yellow.Easy to see in flight and blend in well.
I also use white fletching. BUT I keep my fletchings covered with a camo cloth 'bag' except of course for the arrow on my bow. I've had too many deer see that white and take off on me.

Yellow crown dipped with 5inch yellow shield cut feathers and yellow nock
I've never used white, but I generally use something bright. It's nice to see the flight of the arrow on its way to the critter.
First deer I killed was with a wood arrow that was bright yellow from nock to b.o.p.--shaft painted yellow, flo. orange cresting, with a chartruese feather tracer. I could see it in flight!
I use a "Safari Tuff" Arrowmaster with fletch cover now--whole arrow is hidden. I think the animals (other than turkey) are alerted by the arrows "flagging" back and forth more than the color, but this quiver takes care of both. |
