Sealskin?

I' m sending an order to 3Rivers soon and am getting some sealskin to use as a rest. I was just wondering what the barge cement does to your bow? Does the sealskin last long enough that it doesn' t matter? I would think it would booger the finish up pretty bad. Thanks.

I' ve used it barge cement with seal skin on my bows and it never hurt the finish.

My sealskin is glued on with Barge Cement. It fell off yesterday.[:@] There was no damage to the finish of the bow. I glued it back on with Barge Cement, and it seems to be solid now.

I' ve used Barge with good results-with no damage to finish-but lately I' ve been using Loc-Tite contact cement.

Do it. My Adcock bows all have sealskin rests (Alaskan Bowhunting Supply) and I wouldn' t use anything else.

I agree with the consensus here that the Barge cement will not harm the finish on your bow. My experience with the sealskin is that it lasts a long, long time. I gave the rest a butch cut (trimmed hair) and it works great for me on both recurve and longbow shooting cedar, bamboo and aluminum arrows.
