Inexpensive recurve

I'm looking to pick up an inexpensive ($100-$200) recurve as I've never shot a bow before.

So far I'm looking at the Samick Sage
http://www.3riversarchery.com/PowerR...curve-Bow.html

or Vista Sage
http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hunti...3Bcat103969080

Both seem to have decent reviews.

I have no experience with Vista, but I've handles several of the Samick bows. I don't think any other bow in that price range can touch them--I've shot lots of bows that cost a lot more that, in my opinion, weren't nearly as good as the Sage.

I'd much rather deal with a company who specializes in traditional archery like 3 Rivers vs. a company that picked up traditional gear as an afterthought (as most of the "big box" hunting stores did).

Samick makes a very good bow for the money.

I bought a Ragim Matrix a few months ago and have been happy with it. The downside is the limbs only go to 40 lbs but I was able to get longer (68") limbs. I paid $120 for it, new.

I would also look into an older Bear Grizzly, great bows that a lot of Animals have fallen to, sort of the workin mans bow back in the day!

Hello All! I'm new here and hopefully can be of some help to others.
I have the sage recurve, it is a great bow! Mine is 35#. I've almost always shot wooden cedar arrows from traditional bows but in the last year been experimenting with carbon arrows. For now I'm shooting Beman ics hunter 500 with a 125 grain point, they are 30" long with 5" fletch. These are shooting very good! Although with the sage you can use a fast flyt string I shoot it with a flemish b-50. scout4

Check out ebay and craigslist...you can find some good deals on bows if you try. In the last couple of weeks I got a Ben Pearson Predator, Damon Howatt Mamba and a Damon Howatt Diablo...$241 between the three!

I've always wanted a 68" hunting recurve. I'll be googling this model later.
