Recurve Setup

Purchased a PSE Razorback for my 11 year old son. It is RH, 62", 35# pull.

This is my first experience with a recurve and my son's first with archery.

When stringing the bow with a bow stringer (that I learned about in this forum - Thank You!) how do I know how many times to twist the dacron string? It should not be strung without a twist, correct?

Also, the bow will fall backwards when "posted" in the left hand. The riser has a receiver for a stablizer. Would it be wise to add a sablizer to try to balance the bow?

The bow should have come with some type of info for the recommended brace height. This tells you to raise or lower the brace height when you first string the bow. Measure from the bottom of the arrow nock valley where it seats on the string to the deepest part of the grip (throat). Once you have this number in inches, you have a starting point. To raise or lower the brace height, you twist the string clockwise or counter clockwise until you get into the brace height range. As for the number of twists, it's by experimentation on your part.

PSE Razorback

Brace height should be 7-7-12" I recommend a flipper rest and plunger.

A few twists at least. You may have to add several to get the brace height high enough. Factory strings are usually "one size fits all"--and usually doesn't fit properly at all.

Additions like a stabilizer are a personal thing. I like to add as little as possible myself, as one of the main reasons I switched to traditional was because of gadgets getting loose, breaking, etc.
