24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Just twisted one up a while ago--anybody want to guess what it' s going on?

RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Chad,
I would guess a heavyweight Hill longbow. Bill |
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Your putting it on CT' s new bow that you used to pull the truck out of the mud? :D:D:D:D
I have no idea, but I doubt its a little kids bow. |
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
You are putting it on Schwarznegger' s new Terminator 4 Longbow, the one he' ll use to take Davis out with on October 7th here on the left coast?
NO? OK,OK, we will just recall him instead. Gray wants to tell his story, but " history" would be the better option! |
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Sounds like a target shootin' crossbow string. ;)

RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Could it be that brute of a bow of your' s that I couldn' t quite draw to anchor (could get it to about 28" , could not get that last inch, to 29" ). What is it , 105 lb @ 28" ?

RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Actually it' s for a special order recurve (very special order--don' t know if Marc will attempt another one or not)--a 64" King' s Pawn that will finish out at around 165@28 (yes, that is one-hundred, sixty-five pounds at twenty-eight inches!). With an approximate breaking strength of 125 lbs. per strand, this one should be good to go.
Broker, that flatbow of mine is only 98@28--a real wimp compared to this one! (I think I put an 18 strand dacron on it). The fellow who ordered this one is hoping to eventually set a new record. If nothing else, he can use this string for a tow rope! Arthur, that was just wrong! [:@] Chad |
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Kip,
Chad said that was magical mud on my bow and went along with the mystical indian carvings. He said it was a Canadian thing. I guess I can scrape the mud off now????[:o] |
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
That mighta been wrong, Chad, but I was in the right range for draw weight. LOL
165 pounds... How do ya even string that beast? |
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Dang Chad...
...thatsahellovalottabow! |
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
12 strands of 450+ would have been plenty and you wouldn' t have to use a hydraulic press to get the nocks onto the string. @175 pounds per strand, you' d be 12 x the bow weight and that' s always plenty.

RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Robert,
I think you should make one of those 175#' ers. Would make for a fast arrow;) I' ll give you a call after my Maine bear hunt next week!!!!!!! |
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Give me a shout then, CT! I' d love to hear how it went for you!
|
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Actually I am twisting up a 16 strand 450+ for that same bow right now. I thought that it was a bit of overkill myself, but I have zero experience with bows this heavy, while the customer has a lot of experience with them, so I am going with what he wants. These will get tied-on nock sets, I am sure--the arrow nocks he uses are custom made from machined aluminum to fit the big strings and withstand the pressure. Figure a brass nock-set, even the biggest Saunders makes, would be too small and damage the string if you could get it crimped on.

RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Sounds like a good squirrel bow. ;)
|
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Jason, remind me to never go squirrel hunting with you! Glad to see you around, by the way! Hope to have some good news for you soon--I know of a hippie Canuck bowyer that has been working on something nice for you.

Chad,
I' ve got some dead squirrels on the CM this year. Treed a groundhog one day too (no kidding--don' t ask). You might want to shoot a copy of your grouse pics from Canada to Bob at Ace Archery Tackle. He' s looking for ad photos for the Hex Heads. |
RE: 24 strand Dyna ' 97--Carumba!
Saw Bob at Twin Oaks earlier this year--he now has pics, and I have more blunts! Hope to have him some more pics later on :D I was very impressed with them. I probably wouldn' t have thought much of it, except I saw how the other points performed compared to the Hex Heads--no contest!
