How long to leave it strung?
Recently rejoined the ranks of the bowhunter, but this time picked up a Martin recurve. I was curious if there is some rule of thumb about the length of time you could leave the bow strung up. I know it is a no-no for extended periods. Using the stringer that I have can be a pain. Probably just need to get used to the process (and get these old muscles limbered again!) Thanks.

Personaly I always unstring my recurves or longbows after I am done shooting them. Some people if they hunting for the weekend will leave there bows strung. I have been told if you always leave the bow strung up that you will run the risk of twisting the bow limbs.

Except for selfbows, mine stay strung indefinately. The harm comes from the way they are stored (strung or unstrung).
The only negatives I know of from leaving a bow strung would be if they are acessable to kids, or it's possible a pet or mouse could chew on the string.
