Aluminum Arrows
 

I'm curious how many of you that shoot with trad equipment us aluminum arrows.
I use aluminum mostly and sometimes wood. I've found that aluminum is easy to tune and very durable thorugh the years.

Ive got a few wood arrows, but most of mine are aluminum. I have gotten away from wood because of the cost and availability. I have some bows I shoot carbon with as well.

I shoot both. Generally I love POC more because of forgiveness and quietness. But good POC arrows are pricey. But aluminum is more stable and stays straight.

I have 2 sets of POC right now, a 40-45lb set and 45-50lbs set, and I forgot about a 80lb set. I generally use these for my selfbows. Seems fitting.

I have litterly 4 dozen alum, of various types. I generally use these with my fiberglass bows.

Bigcountry, that's pretty much my opnion.....I love wood arrows but good one are kind of expensive.
Aluminum, especially 2018, 2016. even 1916, they're all pretty durable. A dozen will usually last me a few seasons.

I mostly shoot aluminums...2018's & 2114's. I have some carbons I made up that I'll shoot occassionally but I prefer the alum's.

I shot aluminum's (2216's) for 14 years out of my recurve. I can't say a bad thing about them.

Since I mainly bowhunt, I shoot aluminum arrows and have been since 1964. Aluminum arrows are cheap, easy to tune, weight is consistent and basically straighter than carbon arrows if one uses Easton Camo Hunter or X7 Eclipse aluminum arrows which I do. Wood arrows can warp and I'm not fond of the pencil thin diameters of carbon arrows.

I started shooting a Bow when it was only long Bows & recurves & 99% wood arrows. Then Forgewood & then Fiberglass & then Easton Aluminum. Aluminum has always given me the best for performance, straightness & durability. I even tried Carbons 2 years but went back to Aluminum.

I no longer shoot traditional BUT am going on a Antelope Bowhunt this fall-I will be trying for a Buck with my compound BUT i have a 1975 Carroll, 60# takedown I will have in the blind with me. IF a Doe shows up, I will be Barebow, Bare fingers & a wood shaft just for old time sake. I have taken 38 animals that way in the past & hoping to take 2 more to even it out at 40. Hopefully an Antelope & a Deer this fall .

Aluminum "in MY opinion" is the best shaft available all around.
