Traditional Recurve Questions
I have a Groves Spitfire Prestige Hunter, on the side under the handle it says 40# @ 28"
R-809-A
56"
Dyna- Stressed
I don't now much about these bows but I know that the man who invented them lived in Albequerque, New Mexico and passed away in 1997 he set a few records with his bow. I was wondering how to clean my bow and what its worth, I'm not sure how old the bow was but I know someone owned it and hunted with it before me. Its not stringed yet but I plan to string it and hunt with it.

If your draw lenght is shorter than 28" then the poundage will be lower by 3 to 4 pound per inch under 28"
R-809-A is the serial number
56" is the lenght string groove to string groove.
Dyna- Stressed probably means you will need a Dynaflight string so dont go putting a fast flight string on it.

As to what it's worth I have no idea.
Its not stringed yet but I plan to string it and hunt with it.
Good luck and remember to have fun.

I believe "Dyna-Stressed" is what he called a process he did when making his limbs--kind of like "pre-stressed", but sounds better. More than likely that bow is dacron only, but I could be wrong there.
No idea on the worth. As best I can tell, Groves bows were never all that popular around here.
