Fred Bear Recurve?
 

So i had this old recurve bow laying around in my room that my father let me have when i was a few years younger. I decided to try to look it up online, and didn't find much information on it other than that it was manufactured just around 1972. If anyone has anything to say about it, or knows something i do not, please share.

Yeah, I have one, haven't shot it in a while though. It's a decent recurve, don't know what the arrow speed on it is. I would just make sure to check the condition of it. If it shows any sign of cracks or damage to the limbs it's best to keep the thing on the wall.

All around, its in very good condition, a few scratches on the finish and such, but other than that its golden. Thanks for the reply, i havent been able to fina anyone with the same bow.

My father has one I think. I don't know what they go for but I would like it will give you 10 dollars for it J/K. I will ask my father and see what he says.

Haven't shot it much since I got a compound 10 years ago.

I also have a Bear Kodiak Magnum, 52", 50lb bow. I bought it new in 1965 and have kept it all these years. It's in like new condition and is still a beautiful bow. I have the original Bear quiver and a half dozen original Bear arrows, five of which have the Bear broadheads. I haven't used it for at least 40 years, although I tried it last fall for a few shots. I had forgotten how light it is compared to my 6.6 lb compound, and how "inaccurate" I am now with it after using the compound. Instinctive shooting was a special skill which I have lost. This was a great bow in its time, and I think it still is. I've seen some for sale asking ≈$300 for it. I've decided to keep it for nostalgia's sake, and to pass it on.

I was a dealer back in the 60s & that line of Bear was one many used in those days. You have a piece of Archery & Bowhunting history there.

I have a factory camo version. It's a great little shooter and a workhorse of a bow. I have a few Bear bows and they're all great shooters. You can buy Bear Kodiak Magnum's all day long on the big auction site for under $200.00.

What more would you like to know. Go shoot it and enjoy it.

Nice old bow--the Kodiak Mags were popular, and still are with some folks. Way too short for me, but make a dandy bow for blinds and other tight spots.

The 45X means it's 46@28 (it will be marked 46 under the strike plate).

It's not worth a fortune, but it is a nice piece of archery history.
