Nothing wrong with the testing IMO. But if it didn't feel right to you, then I'm glad that you didn't. Always listen to your conscience is the best advice.

I agree with Bob on this one. If you felt it was wrong then you did the right thing! Get the shoulder after you bone her out and put an arrow thru it then, see what happens.

I could see where It would feel kinda different Mark, I probably wouldn't of done It either. I have however blew through the shoulder blade (the skinny part) shooting my 125 grain Snuffers. Arrow passed completely through.

Paul Schafer shot several arrows into a Cape Buffalo carcass (gun kill) testing his gear, before hunting them. It's a cool video.

I don't see a thing in the world wrong with it.

What in the world could be the rub, here?

It just didn't feel right. I figured you got to go with your first instinct.

To be honest i'd be interested in the results of something like this , only because i'm just starting out and would like to know the outcome of a misplaced shot . You personally did what you felt was right , no harm done .

I don't see anything wrong with it.

You hit the shoulder blade, or scapula you should go right through, no problem. Very thin and soft bone. It does have a "spin" running down the middle but would be pretty hard to hit that center enough to try to penetrate. You hit the humerus and that is a whole different ball game. Would have to be pretty low and forward to the hit the big joint or the humeus though.
