Default A little project in the works

I have been playing with different designs for an ipe, bamboo combo and think ive got it worked out. I just cleaned up this bow and got the limbs bending even. It is an Brazillian walnut, bamboo, mesquite, Reflex/Deflex long bow. It is 67" ntn and will end up around 68lbs @ 28". I was shooting for the 70lb area, but I can already tell I wont be able to hit that. Im making this bow for next hunting season. I have been playing with a compromise between Reflex and handshock. Im working with a narrow limb design, almost like a d section bow and think ive got it worked out.
Here you can see some of the curves.

The mesquite was from some of my fire wood. I decided to cut into some crotch wood, and found some real nice grain.

Ill turn that tumor into a deep pistol grip when I get to doing the perty work.

The tips are more of the mesquite with antler

I have got to finish up the tiller, not much left, and do all the perty work. Ill be shaping the handle and tips last. Ill let yall know how it turns out.

hmm, I never knew mesquite made such a handsome wood. Thats a nice combo. Not as pretty as your osage combo, but I like it.

And I thought mesquite was just for the grill.

I told ya man, you could do this for a living I think. But you need a snappy name like kangaroo.

I made it thick for two reasons. My ipe was only 36" long, so I had to splice the core with a z splice and a 60 degree lap. I made the power lam thick to protect it, but more so to get a riser forward feel.I also like the looks.
