RE: new recurve
half:
I've shot this bow and it's a sweet shooter. I actually have on on order that should be here ANY day. Since ordering it, I've possibly had a slight change of heart. I "may" be looking to stay more "traditional" and go with all wood bows. pM me if you're interested in going with a Dorado. Mine "may" be for sale, before I ever string it. I can tell you the waiting list on these bows is anywhere from 17-31 days. Mine's been on order for over 3 weeks, so it should be here, any day. It's a 50#@28" model in camo. It comes with a travel case (which is nice). I have no idea of what they sell for, new. I only know what I paid for mine. PM me, if interested, and I'll let you know which way I go. Jeff |
RE: new recurve
I guess traditional is different things for different people. If it was me, I would just stick with a compound if I shot a hoyt dorado. But Like I said, it means different people for different people.

halftrack......The Dorado is a nice shooting bow. The ones I've had my hands on were well made and handled really well. Ireally likethe riser design, compared to theGamemaster or the tibouron. Much nicer lines.

ORIGINAL: Chris W. Can't tell you how many times, over the years,I've heard similar remarks about different bows. Itstill makes me laughwhen Ihear such statements.:D You are right though, the word "Traditional" has slightly different meanings for different folks. Can't say I really like the word as a descriptive term for what I do. That's why I generally tell peopleI shoot a recurve and leave it at that.;) Everybody has to find thier own way. I came to trad because I love wood. Love the feel of it, love the looks. Love the fact, that I can shoot something my ancesters might have killed game with. I am a rather binary guy. I either want a high tech compound with all the bells and whistles or what I personally am shooting for, a linen strung selfbow. |

But Like I said, it means different people for different people. All I get from Bigs statement is that is isn't for him. I'm not getting that the bow is inferior in any way or that someone should not shoot it. I'm not even getting that the bow should not be considered Traditional. Just that traditional means different things to different people. I'd agree with that. I'd be willing to bet that if we were all around the campfire, we would all get the correct meaning of most of the posts that are open to interpretation. Have to remember that Forum and E-mail looses a lot in communicating correctly. Even speaking over the phone looses a lot. FWIW, I'd sure shoot that bow. I'm trying to get a buddy interested in the one that GMAT has for sale. |

Same here, can't believe the times I heard it, but I can't say it makes me laugh. I guess I don't have a funny bone like you. I was going to stay out, but I guess I'm in. :) All I get from Bigs statement is that is isn't for him. I'm not getting that the bow is inferior in any way or that someone should not shoot it.
