arrows

how do you know what weight arrows and points you need. Is there an math equation? Also how about arrow length? Do you pull to your draw length and add a little to get broadhead clearance? Thanks

RE: arrows

Arrow length, figure draw length plus an inch for broadhead clearance. My draw length is 29". My arrows are 30". Generally arrow weight will depend on the bow poundage. You want to shoot an arrow that will stabilize quickly at your bow poundage and draw length. Moststores will have a chart which will give you an indication of the weight arrow trhat will work at your draw length. As far as broadhead or point weight. That's generally a preference. They can vary from 100 to 180 grains. I think 125 grainswould be a reasonable average weight.

For arrows, I like to size my arrows so the back of the broadhead tips my index finger. Kinda like a draw check or clicker to let you know your at full draw.

Do a search for arrows by kelly. His charts are closest I have seen.

General rule for a 28" draw is 50lb bows shoot 2016 or 2018 well. 55lb bows shoot 2018/2020 alums well. 60lb bows shoot 2020/2216 well.

You can change point wieght to get desired spine reaction. Most shoot 125gr, but I do shoot 200gr phatoms with one bow. I wanted the extra wieght.

I agree with what everyone else has said here but I'd say If you can shoot a heavier tip/BH then a 125 grain, go for It.

Your draw length will probably drop when going from compound to recurve (I dropped 1.5"). Not that it is crucial. If you give yourself at least an inch you should be ok.
