Got my First Longbow?

What arrow should i be shooting through it? I want to shoot aluminum to start with, But what size do you get? My bow is a Martin Howatt 28'' Draw 55LB. Also do you set the knock point the same as a compound? What length should i cut my arrows to? Any Help would be very much appriciated!

RE: Got my First Longbow?

Cut your arrows at least 1" longer than than your AMO draw (bow back to string). I suggest shooting 2018's with 125gr tip to start. Keep your 2018's on the long side to tune later.

And yes you adjust your nocking point same as a compound. And thats by moving the nock up and down to adjust out flipping or poiposing. This will be different depending on your release style, but a good starting point is a tad high at 1/2" over center, and moving down by bareshaft shooting.
