ORIGINAL: Changeling

Kanga, it is really looking good. Is the poly finish sprayed on or brushed on, is there a preferred brand? This is really interesting.

Changeling
It is spray on and I like the Minwax brand

Russell - that looks just incredible! Thank you!
Tana.

It's my pleasure and I have to appologies for not having it ready for Thurs.

Seeing I did not go into detail about the sanding here is what I done.

First I used 50 grit paper on the belt sander to shaped the grip area and round off the back.

Then there where a couple of places where I had to use a rasp to round off, right down near the shelf.

Then I went to 80 grit paper to get out the deep scratch marks, then onto100 grit,150 grit, 220 grit, with all the scratch markes gone and to get the wood to have that smooth as silk feel I wet the riser to stand the grain up and used 320 grit. After I sealed the wood I again sanded it back with 320 grit paper, all in all there was about 12 hours of sanding all by hand on the riser.

It's all cool no worries!
Just keep reminding him how wonderful I am and just how lucky he really is!!! LOL
Besides my bow isn't in yet anyway, so it's fair this way.
Thanks for the Birthday wishes.. it was a very nice day.
Although just in case you were wondering... I didn't get any carats, but I did get pink roses!
LOL

Well she's almost done

Just have to give the riser a light sanding with some 400 wd paper and apply the final coat.

Here are the hunting limbs close up.

I still have to test shoot the hunting limbs so when the riser is dry I will do that then take some put together pics and hopefully have it in the mail today.

Well I didn't get it finished had a slight problem with the sealer on the riser, had to sand it back and re seal it.

But here are a couple of close up pics of the target limbs so you can get a better idea of the colors in the wood
