Advice.
 

Well lets start by saying im more of a compound person myself but id like to try and get my first kill with my recurve. I have an old recurve that is 45# at 28 inches. Im only drawing maybe 27 So its not the full 45#. When shooting at my target(reinhart 18-1) i only penetrate 4 or 5 inches into the target from 10-15 yards. Im worried that this may not be enough to kill a deer and i sure don't want to go out and wound one. So what do you all think? Would this penetration be sufficient enough to kill a deer or should i hold out and stick with the compund?

It should be about 42/43lb @ 27" so it is enough to take a deer just use a really sharp COC head on a heavy arrow, you might not get a complete pass through but it will get the job done if you do your part.;)

Of course as it is in compound hunting too. Im confident in my shooting ability as to im limiting myself to a 15 yard range at the max. What weight arrow would you suggest me to shoot and how long? and anything else i would need to know. Thanks

Of course, I just wouldn't crowd the shoulder very much.;)

Weight wise, I'd say between 420 and 500 grain will keep you on the normal 10-12 grain per inch category. I'd stay closer to the upper end if possible. Arrow length will depend on how they fly. Just like a compound the setup will need to be in tune.
