Thanks.

Well when my recurve was still In top form I was hitting 220 fps pulling 73lbs at 28". My arrows weigh 561 grains. That same recurve Is now only getting 61lbs at 28".[>:] I know my arrow speed Is way slower then It was but haven't been able to check It yet. I'm thinking It's in the 170 fps range now.

wow...what would make it drop a whole 12 pounds draw weight?

Something In the limbs I'm sure.

My longbows shoot 170s with 10grains per pound of pull. I have a zipper recurve that shoots 180s with 10gr per pound of pull. My selfbow shoots only 155fps with a 460gr arrow at 53#. It has alot of string follow. From natural shape of the stave, not from tillering.

My Bob Lee gets 175 FPS. The bow is 67#'s at 29" and shoots a 680 grain arrow.

From all the data I have seen, that extra inch going to 29" draw really pays off. I have seen bows drawing 31" at 48# that smoke any of my bows. I draw 29.5", and believe thats why I get a good 170's with 10gpp.

What was used in making your limbs, what made up the "stack" and rough guess on number of times fired?

This Is my 14th year hunting with this bow. Here's the numbers I came up with. They should be fairly close, give or take a couple hundred.

I have no Idea what was used In the making of the limbs. This year alone I've averaged at least 350 arrows a week since June 15th up till now (18 weeks total). So far this year I'd say about 6,300 arrows shot out of It. I shot allot more this year then usual because I couldn't figure out what the heck I was doing wrong. I later found out It was the loss In draw weight so I had to learn how to shoot this bow all over again. It was like starting all over again. I'm doing much better now. The other years I'd say I shot right around 2500 arrows a year- 13 years at 2500 arrows= 32,500 arrows shot + the 6,300 this year comes out to 38,800 total on arrows shot out of my recurve. Wow!!!! I never would of guessed that I've shot that many arrows out of this bow. Kinda neat to know!!:D

Schultzy, LOL, dam man I thought I used to shot a lot!

I think you just answered your own question in spades, nothing lasts forever!
It appears you have to add another bow to the trophy room wall, preferably a place of real honor, then again if you are happy with the way it still shoots and are willing to take the chance that the fatigue won't snap a limb one day and that it will probably continue to loose poundage, keep on getting up.
However I seriously think you have squeezed your moneys worth out of that bow, retire it dude!

Think how much fun you will have deciding on a new bow, one that will hopefully get as much attention as "old faithful" has been to you. I know how you feel about the bow, believe me!
I had a Wing/Red Wing that I dearly loved until some SOB stole it, it was a long time ago but it still just sticks in my gut!!

Think about it, Changeling.
