Whiff!
 

Well, I blew an "easy" one tonight. Right at the last 10 min. of shooting light I had two mature does coming towards me. I prepared for a shot as they walked under an over hanging branch of the tree I was sitting in. The first one stepped in to my shooting lane at 15 yds. and I made a soft whistle to stop her. She came to a halt giving me a perfect broadside 15 yd. shot. As I was drawing I was already making plans to fire up the grill when I got home, instead of picking a tiny spot behind her shoulder as I should have been. I am sure the look on my face was priceless as the arrow passed harmlessly under her chest. Instead of fresh grilled tenderloin I am having a nice big slice of humble pie right now. I had to chuckle as her and her buddy bounded off about 30 yds. and stopped to alarm blow for about 10 min. straight before leaving the area.

So there you have it. A perfect case of lack of concentration and counting your chickens before they're hatched. I am heading back in the morning to a different area. Hopefully the fresh taste of that pie in my mouth will help me remember to focus, focus, focus, should I be given a chance at redemption.:D

Good stuff, I missed two in about two minutes time. TI was pretty fired up on the second shot and was do the same thing, didn't pick my spot! Either way, feels pretty good to get the shot off, well done!

That has got to be the funniest thing I've ever heard from a guy who's missed a deer bow hunting!!! That pie stuff was funny as heck!!:D

sorry didn't mean it to read the way that read. LOL Mean glad to see you are getting the opportunity to take a shot just focus more and leave the humble pie for the next guy.

Schultzy-I'm glad you got a kick out of it. If a guy can't laugh at himself he has no business laughing at anyone else :D.

I had a great morning today. I only saw one deer. It was a small 8 pt. that came in to 20 yds. I got the pleasure of watching him freshen up a scrape, make a new one and rub on a small sapling. It was great just to sit back and watch him do his thing.

I tell you what Brett. Us traditional bow hunters have a blast telling story's, hunting, the whole works and at the same time the odds are slightly against us at times with longer yardages, no shots being guarantee's, you know what I'm getting at!;) Keep having fun man, I sure love this style of hunting the last 14 years and I look forward to the next 30 years of doing It.:D Hopefully I can still draw these bows back yet then.;)
