Recurve Repair?
Hey guys, this summer while doing some cleaning in our basement I stumbled across an old recurve. I brought it over to the local shop and found a string for her and later while I was getting to ready to shoot a few arrows I noticed that a crack had formed between the top of the riser and one of the lams. The crack wasn't that long but I basically gave up on that battle. But after reading a bunch of Kanga's build a longs, the question of repair popped into my head. I have a feeling I know the answer to this one, but I'll ask it anyway. Is it possible to repair a crack/seperation like this?
btw: I'll do my best to get a couple pictures up to show exactly where the crack is. |

RE: Recurve Repair?
About all I can suggest is get in touch with the maker if they are still in business and see what they say.
You could try putting it on a tiller tree to open up the crack and try forcing some epoxy into the gap, but without a heat box you would have to use clamps and leave it clamped up for a couple of days for the epoxy to dry. But then again that could be hit or miss. Without seeing the bow thats about all I can offer. Otherwise it's a good looking bow just hang it on the wall I am sure it has a lot of memories in it;) |

Thanks Kanga, that was about what I expected to hear. I guess she gets hung up and I'll have to save up to get a new one.
