He's at IT AGAIN

Ok so after finishing off the "Plywood" riser bow Friday night.

I decided to take the weekend off.

So this morning I go out to the shop to clean it up and got looking at the woods I have and got to thinking, (I know that can be dangerous)" I can make a really nice riser with a combo of these woods":D

The next think I knew the shop was not clean;)and I had all these strips.

They are from right to left.
Leopardwood, Yellow Heart, Purple Heart,Yellow Heart, Bubinga, Yellow Heart,Purple Heart, Yellwo Heart and Bubinga.

So then I decided to cut some more for a Parralell center strip.

Purple Heart, Yellow Heart and Bubinga.

I got them epoxied up and are now in the heat box:D

I think this riser will be for a Take Down Long Bow.

Which I will do another build a long.

Starting with makingthe form to the finished bow.;)

As long as we don't put "bright" after it, I am cool with it.

Sitting here thinking about my knot or hole in my yew bow. Think I have came up with a plan. Put crazy glue in for it to run into the little cracks, and fill the main hole with 60min epoxy and yew sawdust. Hope it works.

Mate.

If it was me I would be more inclined to put some longer setting epoxy into it. Maybe some Smooth On,

I have a couple of cans here with a little left in them, if you want them let me know.

Well it's not like I have a full time job that keeps me away from this for 8 hours a day:D

I will post some pics of the finished block then will probably be looking for limb color suggestions:D

At this stage I am looking at Zebrawood for the front of the limbs and no idea for the back of the limbs:):D

But will wait and see how the block turns out before making the final choice.[8D]

Here is the main block all glued up.

After cleaning up some of the excess glue I marked a center line and carefully cut along the line.

No matter how carefull you are there will be some rough ness that needs to be sanded out.

After sanding and making sure everything is square I laid the center accent stip in and measured the height of the block I need it to be 2 1/2"

As you can see I had to add another strip of Yellow Heart to get the height, I had to sand off more than I tought I would.
Here it is all glued up about to go into the heat box for 4 hours.

At this stage I am not too concerned about the excess glue on what going to be the front and back of the riser as there is very little of those areas that will not be cut out when I cut the riser shape what will be there will be sanded away anyway when I do the shaping;)

I think this is going to turn out to be an outstanding color riser:D

Ok, little confused. Your riser/handle section will have laminations both towards the shooter and perpendicular? Never seen that done before.
