Just got a cool little target.

I have made several different "throw" targets to toss around the yard, but could never get just what I was going for. I ordered this little guy last Sat. and recieved it today. So needless to say, I had to give it a test run during my lunch hr. It weighs enough to toss it as far as you would ever want to fling an arrow, has plenty of spots to pick out and focus on, stops arrows without allowing too much penetration and arrows pull from it like a dream. I think I have found what I have been looking for to fill a niche in my practice routine. I really like shooting unknown yardage, one arrow at a time. I think that kind of practice has really helped me improve. I shot it about twenty times today with Gamemaster launching XX78 2117's and it looked like the holes "healed" nicely. I think it will last quite a while. Just thought I'd share with you all in case any of you could use a target like this.

Rhinehart makes a good target (wish they didn't cost so blasted much!). The down-side to the little round ones is a glancing shot will generally total out an arrow. That's the main thing I hate about those standing turkey targets....well, that and I can't hit the blasted things!

cool little target Brett/IL
me and another trad user use to get together and kick and old soccer ball around the yard
we would shoot at it using stump heads
being a right handed guy it was easy to get to hitting it going from left to right
but the other way around was a bit of a challenge
damn riser use to block the target on the move
great practice though if into rabbit hunting : )

Thats pretty cool. Back when I was younger, we would glue a bunch of cardboard together and make disks to throw. This seems a lot better.

My buddy and I got together and shot this thing quite a bit tonight while I was cooking out for our families. He is shooting a compound launching carbons in excess of 300 f.p.s. This thing still did a great job stopping arrows and still provided easy removal. One of the things that is cool about it is that when it is hit with an arrow, the impact causes it to rotate some, and since arrows don't penetrate very far into it, a second arrow can safely be shot at it without worry of damaging the arrow lodged in the target. It is definitely not a "primary" type target, but it provides a fun break from shooting the usual bag/3-D targets.

This guy had one at the range yesterday! It was a pretty stout little target!
