hey all need some opinions

been awhile since i was last on the board
heres my ?
i have a 60# samic predator bow, like it
but i want another bow that is around 55#
now my bow is i believe 58" and i have always heard/read that for the most part the longer the bow = a smoother draw and release

so i am shopping for something 60" or more and around 55#
my draw length is 28"
and i have my brace height set around 7 1/4

so what good bowers do you guys recommend
i would like to keep the price under $800 also
one piece or takedown is fine

i usually shoot with my samick carbon or aluminum, both work well, i think the carbons might have a slight edge but not much really

any other info you need i will answer
i will be on the board again sometime later today
thanks for time and responses
good luck this year to all
hope all of ya harvest a BIG SLOB : )

My personal preference in a long bow would be around the 66" mark speciallly drawing 28".

Kent (burniegoeasy) is a good bowyer and could possibly do one for you.

You should go to the Eastern Trad. Archery Rendezvous in Potter Co.,Pa July 24-27.There will literally be hundreds and hundred's of bows for you to shoot and find out what you like. It's at Ski Denton in Coudersport. There's also a swap meet every nite where you could pick up a used bow

i would love to see the big shin dig in PA.
if it's the one in the ski resorts i went to it years ago with my uncle and cousin.
then it was the compound shoot.
i believe the traditional was either before or after that weekend.
great experience.
lots a lot of arrows, lol.
right now i am in SD so i doubt i will make the trip out there.

Now how did you ever get a name like Jimmy the foot?:D

Not sure if you will still be in SD but you are only 55 miles from my club in Marilla NY. Our big shoot is August 15-17. I'll be working the 15 and 16th. You're welcome to try any of my bows. Also, there is always a big used bow tent with very reasonable prices. I believe Gary Davis will there again and you can make you own quality selfbow (he'll provide the tools and experise).

Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

got the nick-name cause i use to trip over my feet as a kid when i played sports
i was a size 10 or 11 when i was like 10 or 11 yrs old and only like 5 1/2 feet tall
it sucked, lol
so my best friend gave me the name and it has stuck ever since
buddies are great arn't they, lol
i travel alot for work and won't be in NY in Aug. unfortunately
thanks for the details and invite though
really hope i can hunt this fall
only time will tell where i am and what my hunting options will be

but i am still thinking of getting a nice bow before the fall
got plenty of time to research and listen to you alls advice
when i do decide i will have to send ya all a pic
maybe a pic of my feet to
just kidding, lol

Funny Story JImmy!

I would not go against va's advice. Predators are very nice bows and he usually has a few instock. It maybe tough to get a custom made for fall so I'd look on the top end for a used bow. Considering what you are willing to pay, if it were me I'd probablylook for a used Habu, Dale Dye, Morrison, or Silvertip.

You can get a heck of a nice bow for well under $800 new--and there's some great deals on the used market. Too many great bows out there to try to name them all--besides, the bow I love might not be all that special to you.

Good luck in your search!
