Bowstring stretch

How much stretch can I expect with my brand new 16 strand B50 recurve string?

It'll stretch a bit off the bat, but will stretch less over time.
That probably made no sense.

It'll stretch more in the beginning.:)So check brace height often at first.

Always use your bow square. Even my D97 stretches from time to time. I have to readjust every 300 or so arrows. But a new string, first 100 arrows, you will have to adjust alot.

It will stretch as much as 2 inches. After the first 200 to 300 arrows. I always use a piece of masking tape as my temporary nock point until I've shot those 200 to 300 arrows. Then I tie on a permanent nock point.

I was just about to ask this question! Not to hijack scoobs thread but can I expect the same thing from a 12 strand b-50?

Especially 12 strand B50. Less so with 16strand B-50. Even less so with 8125, and even less so with 450plus. Surprised your shooting 12 strands with a 55lb bow. I would probably shoot at least 16.

Another thing to look for is if your string is twisted quite a bit to adjust for stretch or you had a tad too long string to begin with and to adjust your BH, you had to twist alot, is the string will appear to be stretching during shooting more, especially if you unbrace the bow after shooting every time.

big, the string I was talking about is for my sons 1965' Kodiak Mag at 43X. Jim(raineman) over at tradgang is making this for us and what he suggested, 12 strand!
