RE: YOUR effective range

I've been shooting a longbow since I was 13, I'm 52 now. I can hold 4 inch groups at 20 yards on a good day, average 6 inch groups. For deer and bear I like to be in under 20 yards, larger animals 30 yards. Best effective range for me is 18 to 25 yards.

I hear ya bro! I'm getting 'itchy' for October already and figure NOW is THE time to be shooting!

ORIGINAL: BowHuntingFool

My range for this season, 1st with a Longbow, is 18 yards and under! I feel good out to 22/23 yards at the range and practice out to 30 yards but hunting is a different story! Plus I like it close and personal, it not a how far thing for me at this point, its a how close deal! I'm shaking just thinking about it..... I can't wait, come on September!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
