Have you been guilty like me?

I have owned 2 Chekmate bows in the past. One was a firebird and the other was a hunterII. Both were standard and not custom ordered. They shot real well and looked good. I have concidered Chekmate bows good well made bows but not the fancy woods and lookers of other bows. Well, I just received a 56" hunter 1.5 from LBR. It is bolivian rosewood and phonilic riser. The limbs are yew lams with birds eye bocote on the belly and black on the front of the limbs. The glass over the bocote is crystal clear and the bow is drop dead georgous. I now no that Marc can make them as fancy as your pocket book will allow. He is a real artist when given the chance. Don

Don,

I consider Marc to be an artist with the " standard" woods he makes his bows out of. His craftsmanship is top shelf!

Both the Marc special bows I bought were top notch. I ordered another Marc special that Chad said should be even nicer. Hard to believe:D

I agree Bill. I should have said given some exotic choices of wood, Marc could really let his artistic ability shine. His standard bows are very nice and great shooting bows. Don

Hopefully I won' t get skinned alive for this...

Being in need of a back-up bow, I was going to buy another Chek-Mate Hunter II. I' d been looking at the dealers who carry them in stock for between $270.00 & $310.00. No one had a bow that fit the bill for me in terms of length and draw weight. Then I found out about some of the different exotic woods being offered as " specials" and was on the fence about ordering that way.

I' ve owned three Chek-Mates already, and like them. They' re nice bows.

Then, one afternoon, I was poking around and found a used Palmer that was dead on for what I wanted...and bought it. After shooting the Palmer for just short of two months now, the Chek-Mate' s going to end up playing back-up this year.

Hey JRW, isn' t that kind of like traditional adultery, trading your wife for the " other woman;)

str8narrow,

If shooting a bow were like a marriage I' d have to move to Utah and become a Mormon (do offense to mormons). :D

Boy Troy, Am I glad I shoot girly pounds[:-] cause I would rather have her hanging on my wall:D. She seems to like them Arrow Dynamics traditional lites the best. I just shot her about a 100 times after getting off a 12 hour shift. Theres nothing like bonding time;). Don

LOL Don yep nothin like bonding time. That is precisely why i gotta find my wife a recurve soon. Then maybe she will understand the unending love I have found for this sport. I guess I should look at the plus side She does want a recurve and wants to retire her comppppouund wheew stuttered on that word. Maybe after I get her one she will understand why I sit around talking to my dear ladies while i fit them for new strings:D
