Which arrow?
I am anxously awaiting my new Chek Mate 56" hunter which should be here tommorrow, I hope. It is 52lbs. at 28" and I am concidering some carbons. I have some experience with the Easton Epics in a Bowtech but thats another world. I would shot them at 29" with 125 gr. points. Anyone shot these or could point me to some carbons that would work at these specs. Thanks, Don

RE: Which arrow?
May want to try some Arrow Dynamic Traditional Lites. These are tapered shafts and seem to shoot really well from my Crusader and Selway. Alot of people seem to really like them.

RE: Which arrow?
CT Bowhunter, I forgot about those. I just happen to have 6 ready to go. I really don' t like the nocks that come with them. I have heard you can make a Easton bushing work but I' m not sure which one. I would like to try an Easton epic or Beaman hunter to but am not sure which size. Easton' s chart says 500 will work but their charts are a little on the heavy side, I think. Don

RE: Which arrow?
I used the Bemen ICS hunters from my compound. They flew really nice, albiet a little lite. I think I used the 400' s??? I know that if you go to the standard Easton chart you will get an arrow that' s way overspined. They have a spine chart in one of their brochures that compares all the arrows. I' ve used this to look at the differences in spine of varies arrow sizes. I believe it' s an Adobe file. Also if you go to the Legacy arrow selection chart you get an aluminum arrow much closer to spine for a longbow or recurve. Sorry can' t be more help.
You may be able to e-mail Easton Tech support and see if they can recommend a shaft for a recurve. |
RE: Which arrow?
Don,
The Blackhawk Vaportrail Carbonwood 3000 is flying great out of my 53# longbow. I have them cut to 29" and I' m drawing a hair over 27.5" . Bill |
RE: Which arrow?
A buddy of mine shoots Beman ICS hunter 400`s out of his Alaskan takedown. It is 54# @ 27" , and shoots them great.
I tried them out of my bow, and got good flight also. |
RE: Which arrow?
Bill,
So you like the Blackhawks. You also answered a ? for me. I was trying to pick an arrow to shoot from my 51# longbow. My other bows are 57# and bare shaft testing shows I can' t shoot the same spiffness arrow from both... duhhhh. I think I' ll give them a try. What weight point? |
RE: Which arrow?
I shoot Beman ICS Hunter 400 out of a 52#@28" hybrid longbow with a 16 strand dyneema02 string. My draw length is 28" . I cut them to 31.5" with 125gr points and 3, 4" feathers. They fly great and weigh 416grs. One word of caution -- you may have to reserve your string, because the G Nocks on Bemans might be a tight fit on the string your Hunter comes with.

RE: Which arrow?
Hey Floxter, I' m getting 3 of them LBR special strings with the hunter;), served with Halo and set for 9/16" nocks. From all the responces, 400 or 500 will work if the right length. I thank you all for the information. Now, If it will get here today or tommorrow, I' l be ready to sling some arrows:D Don
