RE: Bowhunter4life?
WFL\KY,
where you shooting at? I don't live far from Murray if your talking Western KY. I work in Paducah. Didn't even realize there were that many traditional shooters within a 100miles of here. |
RE: Bowhunter4life?
Jeff, I know you also shoot a BW recurve, (so do I) so should give a basis for comparison that I can easily relate too. What differences have you noticed w/the Dakota/BW? Some that say ya need a higher nock set on a Dakota, have you found this to be the case? Are both bows similar in draw weight & if so how much difference in cast is there? Do you shoot the same arrows from both? Where do you brace your Dakota for maximum quietness/speed? Also, is your Dakota really "longbow quiet"? It would seem there has to be a price (in "loudness") for the kind of performance Dakotas are reported to have...

RE: Bowhunter4life?
Thanks guys, I think she'll be drop dead gorgeous too (& I hope the deer feel the same way LOL!) The woods are distressed cocabola/curly maple w/thin lines of osage/blk glass/osage sanswiched between. Mine will have wood overlays on the back of the riser instead of antler & will be stained bamboo limbs w/out the japanese ash shown in the pic. It will have antler limbtips tho. Didn't cost too much more than a "standard" either. Just so happened that Mr. Morrison was out of a particular dymondwood, & he gave me the option of getting curly maple (much nicer IMO) or waiting 2 more weeks till he got the dymondwood in. What a refreshing attitude from a bowyer! Most would've said nothing & I'd have waited the extra 2 weeks w/out even knowing. Anyhow, I found this pic in the meantime & decided to have him clone it to large extent, so it worked out to where I'm getting this bow for not a whole lot more than a "standard" model. From everything I've read (& I've read everything I can find) the bow will shoot as good as it looks. Yep, you could say I'm excited! Bob Morrison is one heck of a guy who seems to really listen & have the customers satisfaction at heart. Most other bowyers could benefit by emulating him IMO. BTW, he's gluing up my riser today. I hit that lucky too, he said after Kalimazoo he'd be snowed under. Looks like the "blind hawg" syndrome finally hit home for me fellas.
