fletching
i have always been a compound hunter. But i just bought my traditional bow. I have a couple questions please. Fletching for traditional feather or plastic? and also do i use the gloves that go over the fingers or a tab what is better. and how long will it take before i can use it to feel confident to hunt for a kill with? thank you

RE: fletching
Feather fletchings, although there are ways to get by with plastic (certain types of rests).
Glove or tab is your choice. If you go with a glove, try them on to get a proper fit--you want it really tight when new, so it's not loose when it breaks in. I shot a glove for years, but am trying to switch over to a tab because I get a much better release. How long it takes depends on the individual. Start now, with good instruction you should be ready to hunt by the time season opens, although you might want to restrict yourself to closer shots. Chad |
RE: fletching
Thanks very much. does arrow speed matter and should you buy specific arrows?
|
RE: fletching
Speed is no great concern with trad gear;)
As for arrows get ones that are spine right for the bow whether they be carbon, alumn or wood. |
RE: fletching
Arrow speed is what keeps the arrow from falling and hitting your feet.:D

RE: fletching
Feathers, always. Much more forgiving and do not bump off a rest or shelf if they make contact. Glove or tab? Try both and see which you like. I used tabs for 20 years, and 6 years ago I went with a glove. Its all in what you like best.
I agree with all that has been posted here. ;) |
RE: fletching
feathers
I use a glove that goes over my finger it depends on how much u shot and how long it takes u to learn |
