String Building

I recently started building my own flemish strings and some other guys want me to make them one. How do I keep the string that I am making for another person tight enough to serve it if it wont fit on my bow?

RE: String Building

Are you not building them on a jig? You should be able to tension a jig enough if you're using one.

RE: String Building

Ran into that problem many years and several thousands of strings ago. I came up with a stretching jig. Another fellow I know that used to make strings had a bowyer make him a bow with several sets of string notches so he could use it for different string lengths. Either that, or have your friends bring their bow's by so you can serve them.
