So many bows, so little time...
Well, I sent the Massie back. Nice bow, but too pricy for me..........but.......well.......I ordered another crusader. Help me. I am weak.
A takedown, 64" 55lb. elm core clear glass belly, black glass back. heh, heh, heh......... |
RE: So many bows, so little time...
The Crusader Virus is evil indeed:D A man can never have too many bows:D:D
|
RE: So many bows, so little time...
the real question is how many crusaders should be allowed in one house hold
|
RE: So many bows, so little time...
if you have too many, it' s time for a bigger house!

RE: So many bows, so little time...
John,
Was the Massie a longbow or recurve? Are those Crusaders that good? Can you compare them to any other longbow? joe |
RE: So many bows, so little time...
the massie longbow was fine. Jeff massie is a fine fellow to talk to. The bow was just not what I wanted.
Crusaders are reasonably priced, perform well and well made. It wouldn' t be fair of me to compare bows on an open forum. If you have specific questions, feel free to e-mail me. |
RE: So many bows, so little time...
I' ve ordered 2 new bows. A Palmer double carbon and a Blacktail Elite. The trouble is that I;m shooting my Checkmate Hunter so well now, I' m wondering why I want to change. More bows...More Bows.....More bows..... Someone stop me before my wife throws me out! Dick

John,
In due time, running out of room anyways, between the animal pictures we have framed, mounts, and the wifes paintings she likes, we are about out! Not to mention I could use a bigger bowhunting room LOL |
RE: So many bows, so little time...
John,
You could always get down to basics like I do. The first two trad bows I bought I gave to my son and son-in-law when I bought three and four, respectively. When I bought four, I sold three. I have now bought no. 5, a Black Thunder, and I' m going to sell no. 4, a seven month old Crusader. I can' t justify more than one bow, until I start building them myself!! Bill |
RE: So many bows, so little time...
I have the fever like John and Bill. I' ve bought/traded the following bows over the last 3 months:
1. Crusader 64" Yew limbs (traded for new Crusader curly birdeye maple limbs- still being built) 2. Crusader 64" Maccassar Ebony limbs (still own) 3. Crusader 68" Black Locust limbs; traded for 4. Tomahawk Thunderstorm 64" ; traded for 5. Selway Lil Shooter 62" bamboo limbs (still own) 6. Gharing Cornstalker 64" Sassafras limbs 7. Sovereign Sonoran 65" birdseye bocate limbs 8. Traded both for a Selway II Lil Shooter Canary wood limbs (being built) 9. Viper 68" traded for kids longbow for my 9 year old son 10. Internature recurve 62" traded for kids longbow for my 8 year old son |

CT B,
You don' t have a virus, you have an epidemic!! ;):):D:D Bill |
RE: So many bows, so little time...
It' s evil, and it all was started by Chad (LBR) and his sale of my first Crusader. But as the evil Saddam CHADsain said, " you have to shoot alot of bows until you find the ones (plural) that you like" Well I' ve shot a miniscule # of bows, as compared to what' s out there, over the last several months, and my 2 favorites at this time are the Crusader and Selway II Lil Shooter. I have to admit that the Lil Shooter is giving the Crusader a run for the favorite. I know this will be a contoversial statement (Chad close your eyes), but I' m shooting the Lil Shooter better than my Crusader. Now I' ve shot the Crusader hands down better than any of the other bows I' ve owned and tried, so I was amazed at my shooting. While shooting my Lil Shooter yesterday I robin hooded one of my purple heart footed shafts, darn:):D. I think the fact that the Lil Shooter is cut just past center makes it a bit more forgiving to my newbie shooting form. I' ve limited my shooting and bow ownership to the Crusader and Lil Shooter, that is until the next great bow comes along;):D.

CT B,
Is that a clap of THUNDER I hear on the horizon? And look, BLACK clouds are forming! ;)[>:]:):D Bill |
RE: So many bows, so little time...
well....I ain' t trying to play " mine' s bigger than yours" but the longest list on this thread would be about like one 15 month period for me. I' d buy one and shoot it a couple months, sell it, then buy another. I have slowed down now, but It was/is a wonderful addiction! I have a wall with pegs for the ones I won' t sell(two Saxons, 1 supershrew, 1 selfbow, and today my new crusader earned a peg)
It came in this evening' s mail. 64" , 55lbs at my draw, black locust under black glass on the back and under clear glass on the belly. A takedown with a nice red stripe running full length. I put it together, stuck a nockpoint on it about where I thought it ought to be, and shot a 2016, 2018, ML8 fiberglass, 67spine cedar, and 61 spine tapered sitka spruce all into 8" at 23yards! No fishtailing, no porposing. Oh yeah, and this was with the goofy, fat endless string that came on it! |
RE: So many bows, so little time...
Ahhhhhh, life is too short to own just 1 bow:D:D:D
