Vanes fletch arrows off a flipper rest

Has anyone had any luck shooting vane fletched arrows off a flipper rest. Just for the heck of it I was trying it last night. They arrow seemed to shoot pretty straight and grouped with the feathers, but man was it loud coming off the riser. I don't think I'dtry using them for game unless the woods were real noisy.

BTW, I tried them cock fletch in and out. No real difference.

Yep, got one setup with a flipper rest for shooting vanes in wet weather. It's not any noisier than any other bow I own.

What about compared to the feathers on the same bow? Not in flight but off the riser?

I can't say there's a noticable noise difference between feathers and vanes off that bow, but I haven't shot feathers off of it in quite a while. I do know, with vanes and the flipper rest, it isn'tnoticably noisier than my other bows setup to shoot off the shelf with feathers. Are you comparing noise between feathers and vanes off the flipper rest or vanes off the rest and feathers off the shelf?

Comparing vanes and feathers off the same flipper and bow. I think the noise I hear is the vane making contact with the flipper. I tried it cock fletch in and out though and still heard a "snap" of the arrow leaving the bow (vane fletched, silent with feather fletched). I have the bow bareshaft tuned perfectly and arrow flight is good.

Bob I was shooting some carbons with blazers vanes and thought I wouldn't even hit my target. Surprisingly had good flight and grouping as well, this was off the shelf! I wasn't really paying attention to noise, I'll try it again when this new snow melts!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob, I think what you're hearing is probably the flipper arm striking the bow. Push the flipper arm closed and see where it's touching, then put a little piece of moleskin right there. Should quiet it right down.;)
