Traditional Question?
I have never owned a traditional bow, I have only owned compounds and hunted with compounds. I am going to get started in traditional...but I have a stupid question...Do you release with fingers only or can you use a release on a traditional bow.
Thanks |
RE: Traditional Question?
You can use whatever you want, its all up to you. Most people shooting Traditional do it the old way and shoot fingers. I shoot fingers with my recurve, 3 fingers under to be exact.

RE: Traditional Question?
kinda like buying a decked out Adrenalin ........ and shooting it with fingers :D
don't use a release, go traditional and shoot shoot a glove and forever change your concept of what bowhunting is ! Good luck |
RE: Traditional Question?
Use whatever you want and don't feel bad about the decision you make. I use a flipper rest on a few of my recurves and catch flack for it. But when the arrows are flying better with the rest then off the shelve, it sure makes me feels better. :)
But to answer your question, there are those that use a mechanical. And it will give you a cleaner more consistant release. Just note that if you plan to shoot tournaments, there maybe restrictions. |
RE: Traditional Question?
Just note that if you plan to shoot tournaments, there maybe restrictions. But really, the whole point of traditional is doing away with the gadgets. I encourage you to give shooting with your fingers a good, honest try. Youwill find it's not nearly as tough as the compound technocrats would have you believe. ;) |

RE: Traditional Question?
Ive seen only one person in over 30 years use a release. He did so because he had lost his index and middle finger. Not to say they cant be used, ive just never seen it, with that one exception.
