Unless your release is dead perfect every time and you have a perfectly consistant target material, don't worry about the tails especially at 10 yards - the arrows are still in paradox.
Keep comparing the relative grouping and work back a little at a time.
A & H Archery has an excellent section on tuning.

Well, needless to say, the only thing perfect about my longbow shooting right now is my perfect record of not hitting what I'm aiming at. In fact, I'm still trying to figure out how to aim.:D I think I'm at a point now where I'll stick with what I've got and start working on form and release. I cut 1" off the 2117s and went out, turned the lights on and shot the three bare shafts and fletched shafts again. I never would have thought it, but I shot a lot better in the dark just barely being able to see the target. All 6 arrows were in a vertical line about 6" tall with about 1" variation horizontally in impact point. I think that's good enough to start working on the ME part with. By the time I get good, I'll know what arrow setup works best..... I'll probably also be on Medicare by then. ;)

Good plan - developing an automatic, consistant shot is more important now then aiming (although not as much fun:D).
Try to get where every shot feels good and the accuracy will come - and quicker then you might think.
Good luck.
