Entry level longbow...
Bear Montana or PSE Sequoia? After doing some looking, it was the PSE Sequoia that I shot at Bass Pro. It was a sweet shooting thing. I love the looks of the Zipper bows, but I'm not sure that shelling out $740 for a longbow at this point is a good idea. The Sequoia is only $230, but is 68" long. The Montana is $300, but it's 64" long. I like the feel of the longer bow. Other than the obvious disadvantage of the longer bow being hard to shoot from a stand, etc... are there any other advantages/disadvantages to a longer or shorter bow?

RE: Entry level longbow...
If the longer bow feels better to you, then IMO get it. I wouldn't worry all that much about the 4" differenceshooting out if a tree stand. Just make sure you practice out the stand at every imaginable angle.
FWIW, I also like the feel of a longer longbow. I don't think I'd ever purchase another less then 66".I actually, I don't even own any less then 66" anymore.Below is my Schulz which is 70", and I love it! ![]() |
RE: Entry level longbow...
Bob,
I'm still at work and our Navy system doesn't let me see most photos. I'll take a look when I get home. Heres another question..... how do the tradshooters classify or view the recurves that have the machined riser that will accomodate a rest and sights? I know Hoyt, PSE and probably quite a few others make them. |
RE: Entry level longbow...
I like to keep it as simply as possible. My preference is to shoot off the shelf. However, I do have recurves that shoot much better with a rest, so I use it.
![]() My advice is not to worry much about what is traditional or primitive and stick with whatever you want to use. |
